1975 Super X Mono Shock
1975 Super X monoshock by BMX Products. this frame never went into production, and this is the only known example to exist.
i got this bike from my buddy alex that i have known since 7th grande, his dad owned a motorcycle shop in pacific beach, ca. called kon tiki, he bought this frame, serial #10675, from lynn wilson motorcycle specialties in 1975 for his 6 year old son (alex) to start racing bmx.
the frame was built up with various parts.. seat post clamp, cranks, and pedals are from a sears bike, the wheelset and headset are schwinn, tires are cheng shin (front dated apr. 75, rear dated may 75), forks are ashtablula, the seat is kashimax, and the bars and oakley lookalike grips are generic i believe, all purchased at a bike shop in pacific beach, ca. near his fathers motorcycle shop. and the stem is a Trickray MX by D&L, it came from kon tiki, they were D&L dealers at that time and carried that stem in the shop. they also replaced the stock currnutt shock with a 75 kawasaki G7 motorcycle shock because the currnutt was too stiff, and at 6 years old, he couldnt even get the currnutt shock to flex.
this bike is almost a complete survivor, except the back wheel, which i had in my stash and happened to be an exact match, even the tire. no parts were replaced after the inital build of the bike, this is exactly how he raced it in 1975/6. incredibly, theres no damage at all to the frame and the rear dropouts dont even hardly have washer marks on them. the frame has a very nice even patina as well, and very little rust. the frame did originally have the green/blue super x decals on it but were removed at some point.
