1993 Basic Bykes Big City Bastard - BMXmuseum.com

i say 93ish because there is no s/n on this frame. not sure if basic didn't stamp these frames or not. the whole issue around these frames and this company is pretty unknown for the most part. here is what i know: the early basic frame were really standard shortys (small town hick) and standard lengthys (big city bastards) the story behind this is that standard either didn't want the frames or/ didn't have the money to pay for them depending on who you talk to. either way basic ended up with the frames. they used the money from these frames to fund their own frames later on in 96ish. (big city bastard, small town hick, and sluggo ) this bike was picked up from a sponsored rider. the forks are basic bykes and the "v" brakes were added by the factory for him. peragrine 48 hubs front and back, gt mallot stem (previous owner used to ride for gt before he rode for basic) haro kneesaver bars. and gt cranks. the story behind these cranks are that they were Jay Mirons cranks from back in the day. i guess jay trashed his bike in a run so he took the previous owners bike and trashed his cranks so he gave him his cranks off his trashed ride. if this is true then it's pretty cool. either way it a peice of bmx history here in canada. and am super stoked to have it.
