Erick Weinstetter was the founder of American Bicycles in 1997.
In 1997 we did a Summer Tour across America which spanned 25,000 miles.
After the tour two prototypes were made and a single production run of
25 frames was done in early 98. The bike was tested by Snap Magazine in

This orange bike was from the magazine test of the American Bicycles X1al. The first two prototypes went to Troy Kendrick (MN, Pro) and Adam Provo (CA, Pro).
