1985 Aero Reflex

This was my '85 Aero Reflex with Aero Zytec wheels

"Looking at the Aero for the first time theres no mistaking where Aeros designers got their inspiration from when they set about creating their own freestyle machine. From the top tube platform to the curved down tube and angled end of the top tube the frame shouts GT so loud it'd be tempting to call it a copy except that it isn't, even though the design is as near to the product from Santa Ana as its possible to get without reproducing it exactly. So near in fact that if you swapped the Aero decals for a set of Pro Performer stickers you'd need a GT along side before you could tell them apart. First of all the top tube standing platorm is longer, two inches longer to be precise. What this means in practise is loads more room for framestands while still keeping the single top tube at the front for uncluttered framewhips and less flex. Major change though is in the length of the wheelbase. At 34 7/8 - 36 1/8 the Aero is significantly shorter than the performer though the front triangle is just as long. Cause of the fall in wheelbase length is the headtube: at 77 degrees the Aero is way steeper than the GT - a fact which, combined with zero rake on the forks, explains the reduction in length. It also accounts for the quickness of the steering and the advantages this has in ground tricks such as front wheel 360's and framewhips. If you thought a Performer had quick steering then wait till you try this one. It may take some time to get used to but once you've mastered it it makes a whole bunch of ground tricks a whole lot easier." ---- FREESTYLE BMX MAGAZINE JULY 1985
